Tokyo - The Associate Members Committee (AMC)

Representing some 333 Associate Members of INTERTANKO, the AMC met in Tokyo this week to address an agenda that included the finalisation of the INTERTANKO session “Risk Management, a Necessary Tool for Surviving in Difficult Times”. The session was put together mainly by speakers from the AMC who provided input to a round table discussion based on experiences in their own business environment.

INTERTANKO thanks them all for their contributions, which clearly enhanced value for the Tanker Event and thus hopefully also for Associate Members in general and the AMC in particular.

The meeting identified new measures to enhance interaction with the associate membership for the purpose of creating further value of membership; stimulate closer contact between INTERTANKO and the AMC; increase the use of INTERTANKO services and benefits, and thus motivate and expand the growth of associate membership.

The AMC conducted its customary quality screening of some 17 applications for associate membership which were all approved by the INTERTANKO Council.

“Open Hour” for Associate Members

A small group of Associate Members attended the Open Hour which succeeded the AMC meeting.

The AMC Chairman and Secretary provided input to the history, structure and work of the AMC and initiated an open discussion in line with what had been discussed during the AMC meeting, i.e. ideas on how to stimulate closer contact among the AMC, the associate membership, the Secretariat and Council; how to increase the value of membership and how to make further use of the wide experience represented in the associate membership. This brainstorming session was highly fruitful and new action items were identified which will form the basis for AMC's imminent work programme. The AMC thanks those Associate Members that attended for their valuable input.
